Gillian Joseph of the Union College women's lacrosse team continued to rack up the conference laurels this week, earning her fourth Liberty League Rookie of the Week recognition on Monday afternoon.
Joseph had another good week on attack for Union in three games, combining for nine goals and one assist for a team-leading 10 points.
The first-year had a team-best three goals in a 9-8 comeback win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday night, scoring a key player-down tally late in the third quarter to gain momentum for the Garnet Chargers and then kicking off a game-ending 4-0 run with an unassisted tally with 5:29 remaining. After a two-goal effort on Friday against St. John Fisher University, she recorded a game-high four goals and five points in a 13-8 win over the University of Rochester on Saturday, scoring once in each of the first two periods before scoring twice during a game-clinching 4-0 run in the fourth frame.
Joseph finished the regular season with a team-best 42 goals and four assists for 46 points, pacing all Liberty League rookies in scoring and ranking eighth overall. She currently is tied for fourth on the school's rookie goal scoring list, five behind Emily McGrail '08 for third place.
Joseph and the Garnet Chargers will begin Liberty League Tournament play tomorrow at 7 p.m. against the University of Rochester.
