Union Men’s Soccer Falls 2-1 to #16 Plattsburgh State

Schenectady, N.Y. - The Union Men's Soccer team fell 2-1 to Plattsburgh State at College Park Field Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals put the pressure on early and opened the scoring late in the first half. At the 37-minute mark, a pass from Bradyn Primus found John Hayes, who was able to strike the ball from the top of the 18-yard box into the bottom left corner of the net.

The Garnet Chargers would quickly strike back. A Plattsburgh foul inside the 18-yard box 41 seconds later would set up #10 Owen Everett's penalty kick, in which he struck home on the left side of the net.

Union applied aggressive pressure throughout the second half with good chances, but with just four minutes in, Plattsburgh State would pull away with the lead. Brian Coughlan's free kick from the right side of the middle third found John Hayes inside the box, where he headed the ball into the right corner of the net.

The Garnet Chargers concluded with six shots to Plattsburgh's eight. Union's goalkeeper Jackson Magee finished with four saves on the evening.

The Garnet Chargers return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Williamstown, Mass., for a 4:30 pm non-conference matchup versus Williams College.
