SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union Women's Soccer honored their eight seniors in the 2-0 win against Ramapo College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
Prior to the start of the game, the women's soccer team celebrated their eight seniors from the Class of 2025. Sam Friedman, Katie Kilmeade, Grace Buchanan, Grace Penna, Addie Zimmerman, Jenny Lopez, Grace Canepari, and Maddy Mack were honored for their dedication and contributions to the program over the last four years.
Junior Anabelle Thomas opened the scoring at the 36-minute mark after receiving a well-placed through ball from first year Addison MacDonald. Thomas dribbled forward on the right side of the 18 –yard box and slotted the ball past Ramapo's goalkeeper into the left corner of the net.
The Garnet Chargers made a goalkeeper change at half time, with junior goalkeeper Rachel Berliner stepping in net for sophomore goalkeeper Maya Koster.
In the second half, at the 71st-minute mark, Thomas struck again. Thomas took the ball to the left side of the 18-yard box, poked the ball past a Ramapo defender and goalkeeper to give herself space to fire an off-balanced left footer past two defenders into the right corner of the net.
The Garnet Chargers finished the game with 21 shots to Ramapo's four. Union goalkeeper Rachel Berliner recorded one save in the second half for Union.
Women's Soccer kicks off Liberty League play on Tuesday with a 4:00 pm conference matchup at St. Lawrence University.
