MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Union College women's indoor track & field team picked up a pair of victories to end the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational in fourth place out of seven teams on Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field House.
Union finished the day with 69 points to place fourth, well ahead of VTSU Castleton (58) in fifth place and behind St. Lawrence University (86.5) in third. Middlebury took top honors with 206 points.
Sophomore
Ashley Sheldon earned a victory in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters on her third and final attempt to pick up the win. She also placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 9.99 seconds.
Union earned three of the top-four spots in the 800 meters, led by first-year
Kyleigh Record with a time of 2:24.25 to just beat out senior
Cat Dacey (2:24.36) for the top spot. First-year
Bethel Flanagan placed fourth in the event with a time of 2:30.30 as well.
Senior
Gabby Baker was the third runner to cross the finish line in the 400 meters, clocking in at 1:03.99 to win her heat. Sophomore
Kat Doran picked up a third-place finish of her own in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.33 seconds, and also placed seventh in the 200-meter dash by finishing in 28.12 seconds.
Union had four runners finish in the top-10 of the mile, led by sophomore
Annabel Dobash with a time of 5:37.93 to place fourth. Senior
Caroline Kelly (5:49.93) and first-year
Bobbi Serino (5:53.69) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, and sophomore
Emilie Rosecan (6:00.03) earned a 10th-place finish as well.
Union will be back in action on Friday at the Utica Winter Opener beginning at 4 p.m.
