BOSTON, Mass. – The Union College women's indoor track & field team sent a limited squad of qualifiers to take part in the highly competitive John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center on Friday.
Union's four entries all performed well going up against top athletes from Division I, II and III as well as club and unattached competition, with three setting new career-bests in their respective events.
First-years
Kyleigh Record and
Bethel Flanagan represented the Garnet Chargers in the 800 meters, with both runners cruising to new career-best times. Record, seeded 93rd entering the day, improved her time for the third straight meet and placed 80th out of 149 runners by crossing the line in 2:21.19. Flanagan also improved on her seed by 17 spots with the best time of her young career, finishing in 2:25.68 to place 111th overall.
Senior
Cat Dacey and sophomore
Annabel Dobash also ran the mile on Friday for Union, led by Dacey finishing in 5:14.06 to take 124th place overall. Meanwhile, Dobash shaved nearly 19 seconds off her previous career best with an excellent time of 5:19.59, moving 25 spots past her seeding to place 139th and qualify for both the Liberty League Championships and the AARTFC Championships.
Union will bring the full team back to competition next Saturday at the Utica Orange and Blue Invitational.
