Wagner Named to Swiss National Team for Lidl Hockey Games

ZURICH – Junior goaltender Monja Wagner of the Union College women's ice hockey team will compete on the international stage at the 2025 Lidl Hockey Games, the second tournament of the Women's Euro Hockey Tour. Wagner earned a spot on Switzerland's 22-player National Team roster, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation announced Wednesday morning.

This marks Wagner's second consecutive year on the National Team, but her first appearance at the Lidl Hockey Games as part of the Women's Euro Hockey Tour. Wagner previously earned a spot on the National Team and represented Switzerland at the 2025 IIHF Women's World Championship in České Budejovice, Czechia. Wagner has also competed internationally with the Under-18 Team at the 2019 and 2020 IIHF U18 Women's World Championships, held in Japan and Slovakia, respectively.

"I am grateful and proud to wear the Swiss jersey again," said Wagner. "Representing my country is always an honor, and this tournament is another opportunity for me to keep building toward the Olympic roster."

Wagner is one of only two NCAA women's players representing Switzerland on the National Team, joining Naemi Herzig of the College of the Holy Cross.

The Lidl Hockey Games will take place November 5–8 in Ängelholm, Sweden, featuring Switzerland, Sweden, Czechia, and Finland.

At Union, Wagner has appeared in 16 games over three seasons, recording a 2.31 goals-against average and .925 save percentage. Four of her five appearances as a first-year came against nationally ranked opponents, highlighted by a career-high 34 saves in her collegiate debut at #13 St. Cloud State. As a sophomore, she posted her first career shutout with 28 saves in a 1–0 win over Vermont, marking Union's first-ever victory against the Catamounts.

This season, Wagner has started in four games, posting a 2-0-2 record with a 1.20 GAA and .947 save percentage. Wagner earned back-to-back wins against Franklin Pierce (Sept. 26) and Merrimack (Oct. 3), followed by draws against Merrimack (Oct. 4) and New Hampshire (Oct. 10).
