DANBURY, Conn. – First-year forward Megan Duplantie was named ECAC Bitcoin Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Duplantie recorded the first two goals of her collegiate career on Saturday afternoon, including the game-tying goal with just 50 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime against Merrimack College.
She has appeared in all four games for the Garnet Chargers this season, tallying two points.
This marks the second consecutive weekly honor for Union women's hockey. Last week, first-year goaltender Emma Rhéaume earned recognition after posting a 19-save shutout against Franklin Pierce on Saturday, September 27. The win marked Rhéaume's first collegiate shutout and win. The shutout also made her the first first-year goaltender in program history to record a shutout in their debut.
Union returns to action this weekend, hosting Hockey East opponent New Hampshire for a two-game series as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday night for President Kiss' inauguration game, and 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
