HAMDEN, Conn. - #7 Quinnipiac scored six goals to earn a 6–1 victory over the Union College women's hockey team Friday afternoon at M&T Bank Arena.
Junior
Quinn Dunkle scored the lone goal for the Garnet Chargers on an unassisted tally in the third period.
Quinnipiac capitalized early, scoring just two and a half minutes into the first period as Laurence Frenette deked a Union defender and slid the puck across to Tessa Holk, who finished the play to give the Bobcats a 1–0 lead.
Union earned a power play opportunity two minutes later but could not convert. The Bobcats extended their lead to two with a power play goal five minutes after, as Emerson Jarvis fired an initial shot and buried her own rebound.
The Garnet Chargers generated several quality chances late in the period, including power play and a pair of two-on-one rushes, but were unable to capitalize.
Junior
Maddie Leaney opened the second period with a strong breakaway opportunity that was turned aside.
Quinnipiac then added two more goals just three minutes apart to take a 4–0 lead. Kahlen LaMarche fired a shot from the right side into the top-left corner for the Bobcats' third goal, and after a failed Union clearing attempt, Holk netted her second of the game on the rebound.

Monja Wagner was replaced by senior
Emily Evans, marking Evans' first appearance of the season.
Union opened the third period on a five-minute major power play after Quinnipiac's Bryn Prier was assessed a major penalty for contact to the head late in the second. Despite sustained offensive pressure, the Garnet Chargers could not convert.
Just under five minutes into the third, Union broke through for its lone goal of the game. First-year
Megan Duplantie forced a turnover with quick stick work, and Dunkle gathered the puck, deked through traffic, and ripped a shot from the top of the right circle into the top-right corner.
Following the goal, Leaney generated an additional two more quality chances, but Quinnipiac responded with two goals, two and a half minutes apart, to seal the win. LaMarche buried her second of the game with a shot from the left circle, and Holk completed the hat trick on a two-on-two rush.
The Bobcats closed the game on the power play, but Union's defense held strong for the second time. The Garnet Chargers pulled Evans in the final minute looking for another tally but could not convert.
Wagner played 33 minutes, making 18 saves on 22 shots, while Evans stopped 10 of 12 shots in 26 minutes of relief.
Union returns to action Saturday afternoon, visiting the Princeton Tigers. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. in Princeton, N.J.
