Korpi Snags Goalie of the Week Award After Union Debut

DANBURY, Conn. Sophomore goaltender Cameron Korpi earned ECAC Hockey's MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week award after his 25-save performance in the Union College men's hockey team's 1-1 tie with Army West Point, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Korpi posted a .962 save percentage in his Union debut Saturday night, allowing one power-play goal with 5:57 left in the first period.

After sophomore Connor Smith knotted up the game midway through the third period, Korpi stood tall with six more saves down the stretch to preserve the tie. He denied two shots during Army's fourth power play in the final minute of regulation and turned aside the lone attempt he faced in overtime.

Korpi's 25 saves in his Union debut surpassed the 24 he made in his collegiate debut for Michigan on Oct. 5, 2024, against Minnesota State. The 6-4 goaltender transferred to Union after his first season in Ann Arbor, where he earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

Korpi and the Garnet Chargers hit the road for a pair of games against Mercyhurst, beginning Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
