SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's soccer team scored twice in the first half in a must-win matchup, defeating St. Lawrence 2–0 to clinch a berth in the Liberty League Championship playoffs for the first time since the 2021 season.
With the win, Union (9-6-3, 4-3-2) sits fourth place with 14 points, tied with Skidmore (7-5-4, 4-3-2) and Ithaca (7-5-4, 4-3-2), and just two points behind third-place Rochester Institute of Technology (8-3-6, 5-3-1).
Union opened the scoring in the 16th minute after St. Lawrence's foul inside the 18-yard box set up a penalty kick that senior
Anne Pearl converted to give the Garnet Chargers a 1–0 lead.

Vanessa Jorgensen doubled the advantage, capitalizing on a feed from junior
Taylor Bovardi and firing a shot past the Saints' goalkeeper into the top center of the net.
In the second half, Union edged St. Lawrence 5–4 in shots. Senior
Anabelle Thomas registered two strong looks on goal, firing low-center and low-right attempts that were both stopped by Saints' keeper Reagan Murphy. Neither side found the back of the net in the final 45 minutes.

Maya Koster took over in the second, making three saves to preserve the shutout and secure the 2–0 victory.
Union will begin Liberty League postseason play on Tuesday, traveling to third seed Rochester Institute of Technology for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
