DANBURY, Conn. — Stephanie Bourque of the Union College Women's Hockey team has been named ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week, presented by Adapt Nutrition, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Bourque recorded a six-point weekend against the University of Delaware, opening the scoring on Friday night with her first goal of the season before earning the primary assist on Union's final four tallies. Her five-point outing tied the program's Division I single-game points record, and her four assists matched the second-highest single-game total in program history. She added her sixth point of the weekend with an assist on Maddie Leaney's first goal in Saturday's 3–0 win.
The honor marks Bourque's first of the season and the fifth Defender of the Week recognition of her career. She was also named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on January 5, 2023.
This season, Bourque has recorded one goal and 15 assists for 16 points through 18 games. Through 124 career games, she has amassed 15 goals and 48 assists for 63 points, ranking first all-time in assists and second all-time in points. Last season, Bourque set the program's single-season goals and points records for a defender with eight goals and 22 points.
