Princeton Downs Men's Hockey 5-1

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's hockey team dropped its Friday-night matchup with Princeton University at M&T Bank Center by a score of 5-1.

Senior Colby MacArthur netted Union's lone goal of the game, scoring on the power play at the 13:33 mark of the first period.

MacArthur's fifth of the year brought the Garnet Chargers (9-5-2, 2-4-1 ECAC Hockey) within one of the Tigers (6-4-0, 3-2-0 ECAC Hockey) and was Union's 10th power-play goal in the last eight games. First-year Alex Laurenza found senior Parker Lindauer in front of the goal, and as Princeton's goaltender Conor Callaghan came out to deny Lindauer, Union's leading passer slid the puck to MacArthur for a wide-open one-timer. Lindauer notched his 14th assist, and Laurenza now has four points over his last three games.

The Garnet Chargers had four more opportunities on the power play, two of which lined Union up for a game-tying goal. However, the Garnet Chargers only took three shots on target in their final four chances with the man-advantage, failing to convert any of them.

The Tigers scored three times in a six-minute span from the end of the second to the beginning of the third, consequently knocking sophomore Cameron Korpi out of the game in favor of first-year Brayden Gillespie

Over the course of the final 17:02 of the game, Gillespie made eight saves and held Princeton's lead at 5-1.

The Garnet Chargers turn around for a 5 p.m. puck drop against #8 Quinnipiac on Saturday, Dec. 6 at M&T Bank Center.
