UTICA, N.Y. – The Union College women's indoor track and field team recorded six season-best performances in the team's final regular-season tune up at the non-scoring Utica Fast Trax Invitational, held on Saturday afternoon at the Hutton Sports and Recreation Center.
Despite not sending the entire team to Utica, the Garnet Chargers still posted several solid performances in the final meet before next weekend's Liberty League Championships.
Sophomore
Ashley Sheldon led the team with a pair of top-three finishes. She cleared a season-best 1.62 meters to earn top honors in the high jump, and then reset her season best in both the prelims and finals of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing the prelims in 9.50 seconds and the finals in 9.49 seconds to qualify for the AARTFC Championships and place third overall.
Sophomore
Amelia Wagner took eighth place in the mile with her best time of her career, crossing the line in 5:48.03, while first-year
Charlotte Knight posted her best time of the season in the 800 meters, placing 10th with a time of 2:39.52.
In the field events, sophomore
Maggie Buckley posted a new career best in the shot put with a toss of 6.92 meters, while senior
Sundee Kroyer also posted a new top mark in the weight throw with a distance of 8.05 meters.
The Garnet Chargers will return to action on Friday for day one of the Liberty League Indoor Championships beginning at 11 a.m. in Ithaca.
