Women's Track Moves Up to Finish Sixth at Liberty Leagues

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Union College women's indoor track & field team earned 21 points on day two to finish in sixth place at the 2025 Liberty League Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Ithaca College's Glazer Arena on Friday and Saturday.

Helped by four career-best performances on Saturday, Union finished the weekend with 34 points to sit 23 back of Rochester Institute of Technology in fifth place and nine points clear of St. Lawrence University in seventh.

Sophomore Ashley Sheldon came a tiebreaker away from earning a second straight conference title in the high jump, as she tied with Ithaca's Madeleine Wright by clearing a season-best 1.64 meters. But because Wright did not miss on any of her previous five heights, she earned top honors after Sheldon missed once at both 1.59m and 1.64m.

First-year Kyleigh Record and senior Cat Dacey both found their way to the podium in the 800 meters, earning the team nine points for its highest-scoring event of the day. Record posted the best time of her rookie season so far with a mark of 2:17.73, earning her All-Conference honorable mention with a third-place finish, while Dacey finished in 2:20.17 to place sixth. First-year Bethel Flanagan also had a good run for the Garnet Chargers, finishing in 2:23.49 to earn a 14th-place finish.

In the 200-meter dash, senior Gabby Baker was the fastest Union runner to cross the line, ending up with a time of 27.17 seconds to finish 16th. Sophomore Madison Brandy also posted the fastest time of her career, finishing in 30.43 seconds.

Sophomore Epephanie LaBoy and senior Lauren Armstrong both set new career highs for Union in the weight throw, with LaBoy posting a top toss of 11.04 meters and Armstrong throwing the weight 10.26 meters.

Union closed out the weekend by taking fifth in the 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet of Baker, Dacey, Flanagan and Record combined for a time of 4:10.28.

Qualifying student-athletes will continue their indoor season next weekend at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday and the Tufts Qualifying Meet on Saturday.
