Four From Baseball Named to All-Liberty League Teams

TROY, N.Y. – Four members of the Union College baseball team were recognized with All-Liberty League honors after excellent seasons on the diamond for the Garnet Chargers in 2025, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Juniors Caleb Miller and Andrew Keaveney were named to the All-Conference first team at catcher and utility, respectively, while senior pitcher Chris Suter earned a second-team nod and first-year shortstop Dylan Swarts was named to the third team.

Miller is the first Union player to earn back-to-back first-team nods since Jake Vesling '18 in 2017 and 2018 and only the fifth in program history. The junior hit .289 with a team-leading seven homers, three triples, 27 runs batted in and 38 runs scored on the season, while adding 20 walks for a .407 on-base percentage and 23 stolen bases. He finished the season fourth in the Liberty League in both homers and triples, and reached base in 34-of-39 games, including a team-best 11-game hitting streak to start the year and a string of 14 straight games reaching base to end the season. With a year still to go, Miller already has his name all over the Union baseball record books, including second in career homers (18), sixth in RBIs (93) and fourth in walks (57).

Suter becomes the program's first pitcher (and fourth player overall) to earn four straight years of All-Conference honors with his spot on the second team. The senior went 6-4 with a 3.38 earned run average in 69.1 innings of work in 2025, leading all Liberty League hurlers in innings pitched and ranking second in wins, third in ERA, and sixth in fewest walks allowed. One of the most successful pitchers in Union program history, Suter led the team in wins in all four seasons and will graduate as the program's career leader in wins (23), innings pitched (241.2) and games started (37), while also ranking fourth in strikeouts (153) and shutouts (3).

Keaveney earns the first All-Conference selection of his career with a first-team honor at utility. The junior started 23 of his 25 appearances this season for the Garnet Chargers, starting 12 games in right field, seven at designated hitter and four at first base. Keaveney hit .363 with nine doubles, one homer, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored in 91 at-bats, tying for the second on the team with 11 multi-hit outings. The junior came on strong at the end of the season, reaching base in the final 11 games of the year and recording seven multi-hit efforts over that span.

Swarts stepped right into the starting lineup as the only Garnet Charger to start all 40 games during his first collegiate season, the most games played by a rookie ever at Union. The first-year hit .331 with 11 doubles, two triples, three homers, 26 RBIs and 34 runs scored on the year, tying for eighth on the school single-season list with 53 hits. He led the squad with 15 multi-hit games and reached base in a team-leading 36 outings, including 19 of the last 20. In addition to being the full-time shortstop, Swarts also eased his way onto the mound as the season progressed, going 3-0 with a 4.85 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 13.0 innings.

All three of the team's All-Conference hitters are slated to return in 2026, when the Garnet Chargers look to improve on their 22-18 record and third-place finish in the Liberty League East Division.
