Sarfoh Strikes in Closing Minutes to Secure Tie for Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – First-year Kofi Sarfoh delivered a late equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw for the Union College men's soccer team in its conference opener against Skidmore on Tuesday evening at College Park Field.

Skidmore controlled much of the first half, holding a 6–1 advantage in shots, but the teams entered halftime scoreless.

The Thoroughbreds broke the deadlock 28 minutes into the second half, as a quick passing sequence set up Skidmore's Nick Miller to slot a shot in the right side of the net.

Union responded with just four minutes remaining in regulation. After a Skidmore defender attempted to clear a cross in the box, Sarfoh volleyed the ball out of midair into the left side of the net for his first collegiate goal.

In the closing minutes, senior goalkeeper Jacob Perry recorded two additional saves to secure the draw for the Garnet Chargers. Perry finished the night with four saves.

Union continues Liberty League play Saturday, hosting Clarkson University at 2:00 p.m.
