Reanna Loberg and junior
Quinn Dunkle netted their first collegiate goals, and junior goaltender
Monja Wagner stopped all 18 shots she faced to lift the Union College women's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Franklin Pierce University on Friday night.
Union carried much of the play in the opening period, outshooting the Ravens 9-3. The Garnet Chargers generated quality chances from sophomore
Karianne Engelbert and junior
Mikayla Blomquist but went into the first intermission scoreless.
Leaney broke the deadlock midway through the second period on the power play. After receiving the puck from sophomore
Klara Kenttälä at the bottom of the right circle, Leaney spun and ripped a shot into the top left corner for the first goal in the new arena's history. Union continued to pressure with seven more shots in the frame but could not extend its lead.
The Garnet Chargers doubled their advantage early in the third period. Loberg gathered the puck behind the net, wheeled around, and fired a shot high into the top left corner for her first collegiate goal.
Dunkle sealed the 3-0 win with 11 seconds remaining, firing the puck from the left point into the empty net for her first career tally.
Wagner's 18-save effort marked her second career shutout in just 12 appearances.
Leaney's game-winner was the fifth of her career, moving her into second place on Union's all-time list.
Senior captain
Stephanie Bourque assisted on all three goals, raising her career total to 36 assists. She now sits second on Union's all-time assists list and is just two points away from surpassing 2025 graduate
