TROY, N.Y. – Nine Union College student-athletes were recognized for their performances last week, with four Garnet Chargers earning Performer of the Week honors and five more named to their respective sports' honor rolls for the week ending on September 28, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week: Maddie Greco
Greco repeats as Player of the Week after scoring all three Union goals in two games last week, giving her a conference-leading 12 tallies in the first 10 games. After scoring the first goal of the game in an overtime contest against Hartwick on Wednesday, she scored both goals in the second half as Union came back to knock off #22 Ithaca 2-1 on Saturday. The junior tied the game in the 39th minute and then deflected home the game-winning tally with 8:15 remaining in regulation.
Football Offensive Player of the Week: Patch Flanagan
Flanagan earns a second straight weekly award after amassing 322 yards and three touchdowns in Union's 44-12 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday evening. The senior completed 16-of-26 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns, and also led the team with 86 rushing yards on just seven attempts, averaging 12.3 yards per rush on the ground.
Football Special Teams Player of the Week: Aldrich Boakye
Boakye scored Union's second touchdown in 11 seconds early in the first quarter of Saturday's 44-12 win over St. Lawrence, recovering a fumble on a kickoff return and taking it 27 yards to the end zone.
Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week: Shreyas Kode
Kode won both of his singles matches to lead Union to a Garnet Cup title on Saturday. He started out with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles as part of the team's 6-1 win over Manhattanville, then moved up to second singles against SUNY Oneonta and pulled out a comeback win, dropping the first set 6-3 before a 6-4 second-set win and a 10-8 third-set supertiebreaker victory.

Field Hockey: Sophie Brady
Brady combined for seven saves in a 1-1 week for the Garnet Chargers. She made five saves during regulation in an overtime contest against Hartwick on Wednesday, then made a pair of second-half saves as Union came back to knock off #22 Ithaca by a 2-1 score on Saturday, becoming the school's all-time winningest goalie with her 31st career victory.
Men's Soccer: Luke Ingber
Ingber played a role in both Union goals last week, assisting on the game-tying goal in the 87th minute in Tuesday's 1-1 tie with Skidmore and tying the score in the 56th minute of an eventual one-goal loss to Clarkson.
Women's Soccer: Taylor Bovardi
Bovardi had a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 3-0 non-conference win over Eastern Connecticut State, netting the game's first goal in the 14th minute and then assisting on the team's second score in the 61st minute.
Women's Soccer: Maya Koster
Koster allowed one goal in 135:00 of action in a 1-0-1 week for Union. She came on to make one save in the second half to preserve a 3-0 shutout win over Eastern Connecticut State, then made three stops in the team's 1-1 tie with Clarkson on Saturday.
Women's Volleyball: Shannon McGrath
McGrath led Union to a 3-0 week by averaging nearly five kills per set, putting down 49 kills on .307 hitting in 10 sets to go with seven aces, 23 digs and two blocks. After starting the week with 12 kills and seven digs in an easy sweep of SUNY Delhi on Wednesday, the senior hit .341 in two wins on Saturday, recording 20 kills with 13 digs in a four-set win over Manhattanville and adding 17 kills and four aces in a sweep of Nazareth.
