Field Hockey Shut Out by #4 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Union College field hockey suffered its first loss of the season with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of NFHCA #4 Williams College on Wednesday evening at Williamson Field.

Union (1-1) struggled to get good offensive opportunities against the 2024 national semifinalists, as Williams (1-0) sent a total of 28 shots toward the Garnet Charger net.

The Ephs outshot Union 11-0 in the opening period, with senior Sophie Brady making eight stops but conceding a pair of goals. Sophomore Tess Parker played the final 45 minutes in goal for the visitors and allowed one goal while also making eight saves, with four coming in both the second and third periods.

The Union defensive unit kept Williams without a shot on goal in the final frame of the evening to keep the deficit at three by the final whistle.

Union will finish off its season-opening three-game road swing on Friday with a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup at SUNY Morrisville.
