SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College men's hockey team erased a two-goal deficit in the third period against #14/12 Dartmouth to force overtime and a shootout during its Senior Day on Saturday evening at M&T Bank Center.

The game marked the fourth time Union has come back from a two-goal deficit this season. The tie also snapped Dartmouth's eight-game winning streak in the series against the Garnet Chargers.
First-year
Alex Laurenza got Union on the board in the second period with a power-play goal. Buhr and MacArthur were credited with assists. Sophomore

DJ Hart scored 1:21 apart in the third period to tie the game at three. Sophomore
Riley Brueck earned the primary assist on both goals, with Mell assisting on Buzziol's tally and Lindauer adding an assist on Hart's.
Just over midway into the first period, Dartmouth's Hayden Stavroff tallied the first goal of the evening, firing a shot from the slot to give the Big Green a 1-0 lead.Â
Four minutes later, Union and Dartmouth skated four-on-four after both teams were assessed roughing penalties. Dartmouth then took a hooking penalty 26 seconds later, giving Union a five-on-three advantage, but the Garnet Chargers did not capitalize. Union ended the first stanza narrowly outshooting the Big Green 12-10.
Laurenza tallied Union's first goal of the game four minutes into the middle frame on the power play. After Buhr sent the puck his way, Laurenza ripped a shot from inside the right circle through traffic and into the back of the net to tie the game at one. The tally marked Laurenza's third power-play goal and fourth overall of the season.
Union successfully killed a penalty seven minutes into the middle stanza. However, Dartmouth regained the lead just over halfway through the period as Stavroff scored his second goal of the evening, firing a shot from the slot into the back of the net to give the Big Green a 2-1 advantage.
Alex Krause then extended the Big Green's lead to 3-1 four minutes after Starvoff's goal, shooting the puck from inside the left circle into the back of the net.
Union and Dartmouth finished the middle stanza skating four-on-four, as both teams received penalties but neither team converted. Union outshot Dartmouth 16-10 in the period.
Buzziol scored midway through the third period. After a flurry of attempts in front of the net, he buried the puck to cut the deficit to one. The goal extended Buzziol's consecutive game point streak to eight games, as he has tallied six goals and five assists for 11 points over that span.
Just 1:21 later, Hart capitalized on his first goal of the season, firing a shot through traffic into the net to tie the game at three.Â
The Garnet Chargers killed a late-period penalty to keep the Big Green at bay and force overtime. Shots were even-keeled in the third period, with 11 apiece.
In overtime, Union outshot Dartmouth 2-1, but no team produced the game-winning goal.
Dartmouth won the shootout 2-0, scoring on two of three attempts while stopping both of Union's, to secure the extra conference point.
Union edged Dartmouth in total shots, 39-34, marking the most the Big Green have faced this season. Their previous high was 34 shots versus the University of New Hampshire on December 14, 2025. Prior to tonight, the Garnet Chargers had also averaged only 1.75 goals against Dartmouth in its previous eight matchups.
Sophomore goaltender
Cameron Korpi stood tall in net with 31 saves, extending a streak in which he averages 28.3 saves per game to improve his record to 3-0-1 in the last four games played.
Union wraps up its regular season and conference slate with road games at Yale and Brown. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. against the Bulldogs and the Bears on Friday and Saturday night.
