NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Union College softball team fell in a non-conference twinbill on Tuesday afternoon versus SUNY New Paltz at Mary Gray Dean Field.
Game 1: New Paltz 5, Union 0
New Paltz got on the board in the first inning with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to jump out to a 2–0 lead.
Following five scoreless innings, New Paltz broke the game open in the sixth, scoring three more runs on an RBI single, fielding error, and  a bases-loaded walk to secure the 5–0 win.
Game 2: New Paltz 7, Union 2

Amy FitzPatrick went 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI, driving in junior
Sophia Gomes, while sophomore
Sammy Fenigstein scored Union's other run on a passed ball.
In the first inning, New Paltz jumped out early with two doubles to take a 3–0 lead. Following a scoreless second inning, the Hawks extended their advantage in the third with another double and a sacrifice fly to make it 5–0. New Paltz added another run in the fourth on a single to push the lead to 6–0.
Union got on the board in the fifth inning when Fenigstein scored on a passed ball and FitzPatrick singled in Gomes. However, the Hawks added one more run in the sixth on another passed ball to secure the 7–2 win.
Union returns to action Wednesday, hosting Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for its final home doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
