SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College softball team fell in Wednesday's non-conference twinbill to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts by scores of 5-4 and 4-2.

Game 1: MCLA 5, Union 4

Senior Ellie Wintringer led the way for Union (14-21), going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Senior Sophia Burynski and first-year Daniella Nocera each went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and senior Elizabeth Werner added an RBI while going 1-for-4.

MCLA got on the board in the first as Hannah Gilbert doubled to center to drive in Maggie Closinski. Gilbert struck again in the third with another double, scoring Nevaeh Lopez and Hailey Peabody to give the Trailblazers a 3-0 lead.

Union answered in the fourth as Gibbons scored on a catcher's throwing error before Nocera singled to bring home Jahnle, cutting the deficit to one. In the sixth, Burynski tied the game with an RBI single that scored sophomore Gianna Guastaferro.

However, the Trailblazers regained control in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Lopez that scored Hannah Mitchem, followed by an RBI single from Closinski that brought in Peabody.
