Women's Tennis Comes Up Short to D-I Binghamton

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's tennis team battled hard against Division I Binghamton University on Friday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 score in non-conference action at the Union Tennis Courts.

Five players were double winners for Binghamton (5-10), who swept the three doubles flights and then emerged with all six singles victories.

Union (2-8) took two singles matches to supertiebreakers at the end of the afternoon, but came up just short in both. Senior Kennedy Alexis came back from a 6-2 first set to take the second 7-5 from Adelia Wilson in their fifth-singles match, but Wilson took the deciding breaker by a 10-6 margin. First-year Jenny Park did the same at sixth singles against Sara Kotz, posting a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreaker in the second set but falling in the breaker, 10-4.

Union will be back on the court on Sunday with a Liberty League matchup at ITA #39 Vassar College beginning at 2 p.m.
