SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College Department of Athletics held its 16th Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Sunday, May 17, as seven deserving student-athletes and two teams were recognized in front of almost 200 friends and family members at College Park Hall.
Sunday's event was one of the most well attended in Hall of Fame history, featuring more than 60 alumni and former staff members making the trip back to Schenectady to celebrate this year's decorated induction class, which included
Steve Ciesinski '70,

This year's induction class was arguably the most decorated in school history, combining for 16 All-America honors, numerous conference and regional accolades, and dozens of program records. Nine different sports (women's basketball, football, women's hockey, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, men's swimming & diving, men's track & field, and softball) and six different class years were represented among the seven individual inductees.
The seven individuals were joined by the
1974-75 men's basketball team and a special group of
1974-75 women's trailblazers, who were inducted as Teams of Distinction.
"It was another very special day as we welcomed back this year's induction class for such an incredible event," said Director of Athletics
Jim McLaughlin '93. "Our inductees and teams were standouts in their sports at Union and set standards that our student-athletes continue to strive towards each and every day. We were honored to welcome them back to campus and hear about the positive impact Union College had on them both during their time in Schenectady and in the years since. To be able to celebrate their achievements alongside so many alumni and friends made for a memorable afternoon."
With the induction of this year's class, 101 individuals and 19 teams have been enshrined in the Union Athletics Hall of Fame, spanning 24 different sports and 52 different class years.
