Five from Women's Lacrosse Named to All-Liberty League Teams

TROY, N.Y. – Five members of the Union College women's lacrosse team were recognized for their play on the field during the 2026 season by earning spots on the All-Liberty League teams, the conference office announced on Tuesday morning. Juniors Hannah Compa, Anna Dembowski and Gillian Joseph all earned All-Conference first team laurels, while senior Sydney Widlitz was named to the second team and junior Maddy Schiller earned third-team recognition.

Union's five All-Conference selections are the most in a season for the program since 2016 and rank third among all Liberty League schools, while the team's three first-teamers are the second most in the conference and tied the most in a season for Union since 2010.

Joseph earns her third straight All-Conference honor and second straight first-team recognition after an excellent season so far for the Garnet Chargers. She enters the NCAA Tournament with a team-leading 59 goals and 75 points on the year, ranking second in the Liberty League in goals and fourth in points. She is only the fifth Union player ever to record at least 75 points in a single season and currently ranks seventh on the school's single-season scoring list, while she also became the eighth player – and third junior – at Union to record 200 career points.

Compa has been excellent on the draw for Union in her junior season, currently ranking second in program history and ninth in Division III this year with a conference-best 131 draw controls to her credit so far this year. She also has scored 17 goals with three assists for 20 points in 19 games on the way to her first career All-Conference honor. With a year still to go, her 162 career draw controls are already fourth-most in program history.

Dembowski has been a key part of Union's defensive unit this season and moves up to the first team after second-team honors a year ago. She leads the Liberty League with 54 ground balls and has caused a team-best 29 turnovers despite missing three games this season, and she also scored the first two goals of her collegiate as well as a junior. Her current totals are the most caused turnovers by a Union player since 2022 and the most ground balls since 2009, and her 66 career caused turnovers are already eighth most in a career for a Union player.

Widlitz earns the second All-League honor of her career after being named to the first team as a first-year. She has recorded a career-best 13 wins so far as a senior to go with a 9.95 goals against average and .446 save percentage, ranking fourth in the conference in both goals against average and total saves (140). The senior became Union's all-time leader in career wins and saves over the course of her senior season, and currently ranks 12th among active Division III netminders with 501 career saves to go with a career .455 save percentage and 10.11 goals against average.

Schiller has had a breakout junior year for Union, surpassing the output of her first two seasons combined with 55 goals and 18 assists for 73 points so far as a junior. She ranks third in the Liberty League in goals and seventh in points headed into the NCAA Tournament and is averaging 3.6 goals and 5.0 points per game over her last 10 contests. She has scored a team-leading five game-winning goals this season, including the overtime winner to beat Ithaca in March.

Union's five All-Conference selections will lead the Garnet Chargers into the NCAA Tournament this weekend, beginning on Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. matchup against the University of Mount Union.
