Casey Ftorek
Born August 16, 1984... Shoots left... Majoring in Economics at Union... Parents are Robbie and Wendy Ftorek... Father is a former Olympian and NHL player. He was also the head coach of the Boston Bruins and is presently the head coach of the Albany River Rats... Brother Sam played college hockey at St. Anselm College and played professional hockey for the Gwinett Gladiators of the ECHL and the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.
Freshman Season (2004-05)
Played in 23 games for Union during his freshman campaign... Made first appearance against nationally ranked Colorado College on October 15th... Finished with seven points on two goals and five assists... Registered first collegiate point on an assist at home against Bowling Green on October 22nd... Scored the game’s first goal for his first goal at Rensselaer on November 12th in Union’s 5-4 win... Registered a power play goal at Yale in the team’s 5-2 win on November 20th... Recorded a pair of two-game point streaks during the season... Tallied an assist at Harvard on December 3rd... Went 22 consecutive games without taking a penalty... Cited for only penalty of the season against Colorado College... Appeared in 14 ECACHL games... Had three points in league play on two goals and one assist.
Before Union
Played for the Stratford Cullitons of the Mid-Western Junior “B” Hockey League... Earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2003... Last season he finished second on the team and third in the league with 51 goals and 55 assists for 106 points... Led the Cullitons to the league MWJHL title and the Ontario Hockey Association Junior “B” Sutherland Cup championship.
