Prior to becoming head coach, MacArthur was the team captain of the Thunder in 2021-22 and served as a player-assistant coach with Adirondack during the 2018-19 season. In that role, he assisted with recruiting, practice planning, video breakdown and team systems while also serving as a liaison between the coaching staff and players. He played 202 games as a member of the Thunder. His 122 assists are the second most in franchise history, and he is third in all-time points for Adirondack with 175.
MacArthur is the founder of House Money Hockey, LLC, which he established in 2016 to provide skills training, mentorship and guidance to prep, junior, collegiate and professional hockey players. His coaching background also includes four seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Skidmore College from 2018-22, where he contributed to practice planning and special teams.
As a player, MacArthur enjoyed a lengthy professional career that included 190 AHL games and more than 170 games in the ECHL, as well as time in German and Austrian leagues. He played four seasons at Boston University from 2004-08, appearing in 159 games and serving as team captain as a senior. He earned Hockey East First Team All-Star and Second Team All-American honors in 2008 and was named the Beanpot MVP in 2005.
