CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College
women's ice hockey (2-1) defeated Union College (1-2-1) Sunday
afternoon in a contest that included 12 penalties, five goals and a little
bit of confusion.
A shot that appeared to hit underneath the
crossbar and land in the net of Union was not counted by the referees, but
appeared to be counted by the goal judge and the BC squad, and that was only
the beginning of the confusion. BC did get on the board first with a goal by
Kristin Blundo, assisted by
Alaina Clark. The shot from the right corner of the net at just a minute
and 14 seconds in to the game. The score remained 1-0 for the first period.
BC scored early in the second period, just 13 seconds in.
Heide Seidewand took responsibility, fed from
Lindsey Bazzone right in front of the net.

Sarah Courtney was a minute behind her with a tripping call. Just 19
seconds later captain

left the penalty box. Quick to the ice, McGarrell was caught leaving early
and BC received another penalty for too many men on the ice. The Eagles
played almost eight minutes with just three skaters. Union capitalized on
this and knocked one passed goaltender
Christine Moynihan with just over four minutes left to play.

Dutchwomen's Laura Carlson, to bring the days total to 43 shots on net.

third period, bringing their total to 16 shots on goal.
Kerri Sanders made the Eagle's third goal 20 seconds in, off a pass from
Jen
Fischl.
Megan Scully would score an assurance goal at 13:01, assisted by
