18 new people have joined the athletic department's staff

A total of 18 new people have joined the athletic department's staff."Headliners" would like to welcome and introduce those folks.

Nathan (Nate) Leaman, Head Men's Hockey Coach
  • Former Assistant Hockey Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Harvard University (1999-2003). Teams won an ECAC championship and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Won the 1999 NCAA National Championship while an assistant at the University of Maine.
  • A native of Dayton, OH, graduated from the University of Maine with an MS in Biological Sciences.

Anthony (Tony) Gasparini, Assistant Men's Hockey Coach

  • Former Head Coach of the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League.
  • A graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Currently pursuing a Masters degree.

William (Bill) Riga, Assistant Men's Hockey Coach

  • Former associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Boston Junior Bruins Hockey.
  • A former player at both the collegiate (UMass-Lowell) and professional levels

Lacey French, Head Women's Field Hockey

  • Former Assistant Women's Field Hockey Coach at Middlebury College (2001-2003).
  • A Vermont native, Lacey received a BS degree in Exercise Sciences from Skidmore College in 2001 where she was a two time All-American.
  • Will also serve as a fitness instructor.
 

Jeremy Rivenburg, Head Baseball Coach

  • Jeremy has served as Union's Pitching Coach under Gary Reynoldsfor the past two years.
  • A native of Coxsackie, he is a recent graduate of Ithaca College.

Doug Kimbler, Hitting & Defensive Baseball Coach

  • Former Infield and Hitting Coach at RPI (2001-02).
  • A graduate of St. Rose, Doug has had an extensive professional career.
 

Heidi Brower, Assistant Volleyball Coach

  • Heidi is a 2002 graduate of Goucher College, MD, where she played volleyball all four years.
  • She served as an Assistant Coach for the Empire State Games, Scholastic Teams, during 2000-2002.

Erv Chambliss, Head Men's Lacrosse Coach & Assistant Football

  • Served for 13 years as an Assistant Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator from Columbia University.
  • Former Head Lacrosse and Football Assistant Coach at the University of Rochester. Also coached Lacrosse, Basketball and Football at Williams College.
  • A graduate of University of Rochester ('76), Erv holds a Masters degree in Education from the University at Albany ('81)
 

Brev Creech, Assistant Men's Football Coach

  • Former Assistant Defensive Coordinator at St. John's University (2002).
  • Served as an Assistant Football Coach at Union in 2001.
  • Brev received his BA in Visual Arts in 2001 from Union College.

Daryl Steverson, Assistant Football Coach

  • Former Assistant Football Coach for Southern Connecticut State University. A long time coach for football and lacrosse at LaSalle Institute, in Troy, New York.
  • Daryl holds a MS in Physical Education from Southern Connecticut.

Jamie Casullo, Assistant Men's Football Coach

  • Wide receiver coach and recruiter at SUNY Buffalo (2001-02).
  • A 2003 graduate of SUNY Buffalo with a BS in Health and Wellness.
 

Laura Hays, Assistant Woman's Hockey Coach

  • Former assistant Women's Hockey Coach at Utica College (2001-03).
  • Winner of the prestigious Princeton Patty Kazimier Award.
  • From Meadsville, PA, a 2001 graduate of Princeton University.
 

Ian McShane, Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball

  • Ian is a 2003 graduate of the University of Rochester where he was a varsity basketball player.
  • Most recently coached and directed camps at the youth and AAU levels.

Dale Wellman, Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball

  • Prior Assistant Basketball Coach at Kenyon College, OH.
  • Dale is completing his M.H.P. in Historic Preservation through the University of Georgia.

Wayne Emerick, Head Tennis Coach

  • Since 1991, Wayne served as head coach of the Men's & Women's Tennis programs at Shaker High School. He has also served as a coach for USTA Tennis Performance programs.
  • Wayne recently received his MBA from the Cornell University Johnson Graduate School of Management. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth.

Erico Lemos, Assistant Tennis Coach

  • Most recently coached tennis at Shaker High School and is a USTA professional coach.
  • He is a graduate of SUNY Albany, and is currently head tennis pro at Saratoga Golf & Polo.

Meg Yates, Assistant Tennis Coach

  • A recent Arizona State grad, Meg is now a Graduate Assistant in the Union MET program.
  • Meg ranked 40th in the country and was an All-American at Arizona.
 

Meredith Vietor, Student Assistant Crew Coach

  • Meredith is currently a Psychology/Biology major at Union and anticipates graduating in 2004.
  • She was a three year starter at Union with an impressive record (2k/728).
 

Aaron D'Addario, Assistant Swim Coach

  • Received his Bachelor's degree in Biology/Psychology from Union in June of 2003.
  • Captain of the Men's Swimming & Diving Team (2002-03).

Ridgley Harrison, Assistant Swim Coach

  • Received a BA in Economics from Union in June of 2003.
  • Earned All-American status in 2001-03.
 

Bernie Watts, Assistant Goalie Coach

  • Head Coach of the Black Watch Highlanders of the Pro Select League. He is a former Assistant Soccer Coach at SUNY Albany, Rensselaer, and Union.
  • A graduate of Springfield College, Bernie has also taught in area schools
 

Julie Cardettino, Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

  • Julie completed her undergraduate degree at Union and is currently enrolled in the MAT program.
  • She played soccer and softball all four years at Union and was Captain for both teams her Senior year.
  • Julie presently teaches middle school.
