Schenectady, NY (January 3, 2004) The Union College Dutchwomens ice hockey team completed a three game road trip this afternoon, falling to Wayne State 5-2. The loss drops the Dutchwomen to ( 3-13-1) on the season. Standout freshman Elise Nichols (Pittsfield, MA) scored her ninth and tenth goals on the year, moving her to the #7 spot in points per game by rookies (0.88) througout the nation. Nichols leads the ECAC in rookie scoring, and is ranked 26 th nationally in goals scored. Sophomore Meg Llyod (Plymouth, MA) notched her first assist on the year, and freshman goalie Mandy Hanson (Brainerd, MA) took the loss (1-3-0) while making 30 saves.

Last night, ( January 2, 2004) the Dutchwomen were defeated by Wayne State by an 8-1 final. Nichols scored the lone Union goal, her eighth on the year, as freshman Katie Monroe ( Natick, MA) picked up her second assist.

Sophomore netminder Dana Smullyan ( Sailsbury, CT) made 31 saves in taking the loss. (1-2-1)

The Dutchwomen begin a three game homestand back at Messa Rink beginning Januay 9 th , when they will take on Clarkson for a two game series. Gametime is 7:30pm on the 9 th , and 2:00pm on the 10 th .

Boston College will be in town to play Union on January 15 th , gametime is 7:30pm from Messa Rink at Achilles Center.
