CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Emma Rhéaume of the Union College Women's Hockey team was tabbed ECAC Hockey Mac Goaltending Goaltender of the Week honors as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Rhéaume posted 39 saves and a .975 SV% to backstop Union to a 2-1 upset victory over #12 (fifth-seeded) Clarkson on Friday night in the opening round of ECAC Playoffs.
This marks Rhéaume's second consecutive ECAC honor after earning Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, February 17. She recorded a 43-save shutout in a 1–0 win over Dartmouth on Friday, February 13, securing her third shutout of the season. Her three regular-season shutouts are tied for first in the program's single-season record book and rank second all-time.
Her other two shutouts came against the University of Delaware on Saturday, November 29 and Franklin Pierce University in her collegiate debut on Saturday, September 27.
Rhéaume became the first Union first-year goaltender to record a shutout in their collegiate debut. Her shutout, along with junior goaltender
Monja Wagner's shutout on Friday, September 26, against Franklin Pierce, marked the first time in program history that Union goaltenders recorded back-to-back shutouts.
Through 14 games this season, Rhéaume has posted a .924 save percentage, ranking third in single-season program history and second all-time. Her 2.79 goals-against average (minimum of 750 minutes played) ranks third in the single-season record book.
Rhéaume and the Union Women's Hockey team travel to #8 Yale University for a ECAC Hockey best-of-three quarterfinal playoff series against the Bulldogs. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by another 3:00 p.m. start on Saturday. A third game, if necessary, will be played on Sunday.
