Box ScoreIthaca, NY (Nov. 13, 2004) Cornell struck first this time and was able to fend off Union once again in a 5-3 game at Lynah Rink on Saturday afternoon to give the Big Red a two-game sweep of the Dutchwomen. Cornell jumped out to a 3-0 lead over two periods and the two teams traded goals after that. Union fell to 3-5-1 overall and continues to seek out its first ECACHL win at 0-4.
Cornell struck just 42 seconds into the first period for the early lead. Vicki Hodgkinson recorded her second goal of the season with a shot that got past Union goaltender Lauren Carlson (Rochelle, IL), who recorded 44 saves for the second straight game. Andrea Skinner and Caeleigh Beerworth added two more for the Big Red for the 3-0 advantage.
Union answered with a power play goal from Meghan O'Connor (Portsmouth, RI) at 7:18 of the second period, just over five minutes after Cornell's third goal. She shot a feed from Brittany Stewart (Ottawa, ONT) past goaltender Beth Baronick who had a relatively easy time in net compared to Carlson, finishing with 15 saves.

Meg Lloyd (Plymouth, MA) scored her first goal of the season on the power play and unassisted at 14:16 to bring Union back to within two.
Beerworth picked up her second goal of the game with a short handed tally at 15:44. Less than three minutes later Union's Stephanie Armstrong (Stoneham, MA) scored on a pass from O'Connor but it would not be enough to bring her team back.
Union has now dropped three straight games. They do return home for their next pair of league contests though as they host Yale beginning with the first game on November 19th at 7:00 p.m. The Dutchwomen have yet to lose a game at Messa Rink.
