Union Earns Home Ice With Thrilling 3-2 OT Victory

Brent Booth's third goal of the season came with 35 seconds left in overtime and it lifted Union to a 3-2 victory over Princeton. The Dutchmen's win combined with Cornell's 2-1 win over Cornell gives Union home ice for the first round of the ECAC tournament.

Union, which finished the regular season at 8-11-3 in the conference (14-15-5 overall) moved into eighth place. It marks the second consecutive year that the Dutchmen have been home for the first round.

Jonathan Poirier gave Union leads of 1-0 and 2-1 when he scored his sixth goal of the season at 12:22 of the first and 12:25 of the second. His first tally, which was assisted by Matt Vagvolgy and Bryan Campbell, came with the Garnet on the powerplay. Poirier's seventh tally of the campaign was a full-strength goal with Joel Beall and Jordan Webb picking up the assists.

Sophomore netminder Kris Mayotte earned his 11th win of the season with a 34-save performance, and has a 1.40 goals against average over his last ten games.

The Dutchmen, now 7-3-1 in their last eleven games go into the tournament averaging 2.8 goals per game over theri last eleven. Union had averaged just 1.5 the previous twelve games.
