Schenectady, NY (Feb. 19, 2005)Cassie Reid gave Colgate a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into Union's Senior Day game and the Raiders' offense took off from there, posting a 4-0 first period lead. Colgate's 7-1 win, which completed a sweep of the Dutchwomen for the second consecutive season, improved its record to 15-13-3 overall, 8-7-3 in ECACHL play. Union fell to 5-25-1 on the campaign, 0-18-0 in ECACHL contests.
Colgate's Amanda Barre, Allison Paiano and Alix Warren each found the back of the net in the opening period for the visitors, as the Raiders out shot Union 16-3 before the first intermission. Barre's tally represented the first period's lone power play goal on five opportunities.
Union sophomore Elise Nichols (Pittsfield, MA) sandwiched her thirteenth goal of the season at 9:44 in the second period between a pair of goals by Colgate's Becky Irvine. Freshman Ashley Kilstein (Cherry Hill, NJ) was credited with the assist on Nichols' goal. Kristy MacDonald closed out the scoring with a short-handed mark at 16:45, completing the Raiders' 7-1 win.
The Raiders bested Union 40-12 in shots for the game, and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Union was unable to capitalize on each of its seven power play opportunities.
Union sophomore goaltender Amanda Hanson (Brainerd, MN) made 30 saves in net for the Dutchwomen. Classmate Lauren Carlson (Rochelle, IL) stopped 3 shots in net for Union, while Rebecca Lahar snuffed 10 shots between the pipes for Colgate.
The Dutchwomen are back in action next Friday night when they travel to Princeton to close out the regular season.
