SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Freshman Jennifer Merinder (Andover, MA/Andover) had 13 kills and Mary Volcko (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) added 11 to lead Union to a three-game sweep over St. Michael's in the Skidmore Invitational Friday. The Dutchwomen later lost to Stevens in three games.
Scores of the win over St. Michael's were 30-21, 30-22 and 30-22. Stevens downed the Dutchwomen, 30-17, 32-30 and 30-21. Union is now 11-15 on the season.
In the earlier match triumph, Kaitlyn Evans (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) led the Dutchwomen with eight digs. Union will play two more matches Saturday against teams to be determined.
