POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The Union men's tennis team defeated Hobart, 4-2, to take fifth place at the 2006 Liberty League Men's Tennis Championships at Vassar's indoor courts Sunday.
The Dutchmen won four of the five singles (the #6 singles was not completed), en route to the victory. Union improved the 2006 record to 7-5.
Bill Goldstein (New York, NY/Newark) won the #5 singles in straight sets, with a 6-0 shutout followed by a 6-2 win.
Andrew Draznin (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) and
DeVer Warner (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) each also won in straight sets for the Dutchmen.
Skidmore won the championship for the second straight season.
