SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Junior Jesus Sosa and senior Daniel Saxe both lost their first matches of the day to finish off Union College's time at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, held this weekend at Skidmore College's McCaffrey-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center and the Saratoga Regional YMCA.
 
Following two wins in the singles main draw on Friday, Sosa entered Saturday with a Round of 16 matchup against eighth-seeded Lleyton Mendieta of Hamilton College. The junior battled hard in the early-morning match, but came up one break short in both sets of a 6-4, 6-4 defeat.
 
Saxe also won a pair of matches in yesterday's "B" singles bracket, but could not replicate his success on Saturday. The senior fell to Nathan Dolgushev of Skidmore College by a 6-0, 6-4 score to end his run in the semifinals.
 
Union will close out its fall season next Saturday, hosting the Garnet Cup at the Union Tennis Courts. The Garnet Chargers will take on Farmingdale State College in the first round at 10 a.m., then will face either Manhattanville University or SUNY Oneonta later in the day at 2 p.m.
