CLINTON, NY -- Sophomore Sara Callahan (Shelton, CT/Shelton) and sophomore Amy Nestlerode (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) helped lead Union to a 156-85 women's swimming & diving victory at Hamilton Saturday. It was Union's fifth win of the season. Mary Kate Baumann (Armonk, NY/Byram Hills) also figured in on two victories.
Callahan won the 1650 free with a time of 18:12.37, and her time of 5:27.64 took first place in the 500 freestyle. Nestlerode swam the first leg of the 400 medley relay team that won at 4:09.09, also featuring Brianne Phillips (West Hartford, CT/Conard), Sydnie Wells (Bolton Landing, NY/Bolton Central) and Baumann. Nestlerode also won the 200 back at 2:13.92.
Molly Freeman (Barrington, IL/Barrington) won the three meter dive with a score of 261.98, which was 46.08 points better then the second place finisher. She also won the three meter dive at 232.20, nearly 20 points better then the second place competitor. Freeman has now won all eight diving events over a two-week span.
Baumann won the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.94, and Wells took first in the 200 fly at 2:10.74. Mary Larkin (Conklin, NY/Susquehanna Valley) won the 100 free at 56.41. Phillips was first in the 200 breast at 2:31.86, and Molly Freeman (Barrington, IL/Barrington) won the three meter dive at 261.98. Union was victorious in the 200 free relay at 1:43.49, with Larkin, Nestlerode, Maria Prendergast (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and Christa White (Washington, DC/Choate Rosemary Hall).
Union hosts Williams on January 31 at 7 p.m.
