#2 Harvard Downs Dutchwomen, 6-0

Lunday Day stopped a career high 55 saves in the loss.
SCHENECTADY, NY – The Harvard Crimson scored three first period goals on their way to a 6-0 victory over the Union College Dutchwomen in ECAC Hockey action Saturday afternoon. In the contest Union junior net minder Lunday Day (Calgary, AB) set a personal career high mark by making 55 saves in the contest. The Crimson improved to 9-0-0 both overall, and in ECAC Hockey play. The Dutchwomen fell to 1-13-0 overall and 0-6-0 in ECAC Hockey play.
 
Harvard opened the scoring at the 15:40 mark of the first period when Sarah Vaillancourt was able to poke a rebound shot past Union's Day. Day was able to stop the original point shot from freshman Liza Ryabkina but was unable to control the rebound before Vaillancourt beat her low.
 
Harvard would tack on to the lead just 25 seconds later. Sophomore Anna McDonald took a center ice pass from junior Sarah Wilson. McDonald then skated into the Dutchwomen zone into the slot and fired a wrist shot that beat Day in the five hole. Harvard would add a power-play goal at 18:01 to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.
 
Harvard would score three more times in the second period, including two power play goals to make the final score 6-0. Harvard's fourth goal came when senior Caitlin Cahow took the puck in her own zone and sent a pass to the Union blue line where Vaillancourt would receive the puck and skate into the Dutchwomen zone. Vaillancourt then skated past the right circle where would send a pass through the goalie crease to Ryabkina who was waiting to put the puck home past Day.
 
For Harvard, junior goaltender Brittany Martin and freshman Kylie Stevens combined to make 6 saves for the shutout victory while Day finished with her career high 55 saves.
 
Union returns to Messa rink on Friday December 7th at 7:00 as they host ECAC Hockey rival Princeton.
