CANTON, NY -- St. Lawrence defeated the Union men's tennis team 9-0 Saturday. The Dutchmen fell to 3-4 while the Saints, who are coming off a third place finish in the Liberty League Tournament, improved to 12-5.
In doubles action, senior Matt Dwyer and sophomore Jon Satkowski topped
Joe Wold (Casper, WY/Williston Northampton) and
Tom Haynes (Hanover, NH/Hanover), 8-1, at one doubles. Junior Amin Danai and freshman Chris McDonald defeated
Vik Ravikumar, 8-2, while freshmen Chris Rodilosso and Christopher Tamm defeated
Sam Ringel (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) and
Dan Bloomstone (West Newton, MA/The Rivers School), 8-1.
In singles action, Dwyer topped Wold in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, to move to 15-2 on the season. At two singles, Satkowski defeated
Josh Troper (Short Hills, NY/Milibrn), 6-0, 6-0 while sophomore Pete Abernethy won, 6-2, 6-1, over Ravikumar. At four singles, Danai defeated Haynes, 6-1, 7-6 (4), 10-4. Rodilosso won, 6-0, 6-1 over Ringel and McDonald added a final victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bloomstone.
Union will host RPI on Tuesday, May 1 for a make-up match.
