SCHENECTADY, NY-- Union won two doubles matches and took four singles matches to improve to 4-4 with a 6-3 men's tennis victory over Rensselaer Tuesday, while Rensselaer fell to 6-5 on the season. Trey Minter (Bronxville, NY/ Bronxville) was a victor with senior Andrew Draznin (Short Hills, NJ/ Millburn) over Sam Tehven and Joe Shawky, 8-2, and Minter was victorious in straight sets in the #2 singles match over Shawky, 6-0, 6-0. Draznin also won the #1 singles match over Tehven, 6-3, 6-3.
In other doubles wins, junior Tom Haynes (Hanover, NH/ Hanover) and freshman Joe Wold (Casper, WY/ Williston Northhampton) won the #2 doubles, 8-5, over Ed Cullen and Steve Chao. Adam Kell and Rohit Kumar defeated Union's Josh Troper (Short Hills, NJ/ Millburn) and Vikram Ravikumar, 8-4.
Haynes also won the #6 singles, 6-1, 6-3 over Alex Franz, while RPI's Cullen defeated Wold 7-6, 7-6, Fellow Rensselaer teammate Rohit Kumar beat Troper, 6-1, 6-1. Ravikumar came out victorious in straight sets over Kell, 6-3, 7-5.
This was the final match of the season for Union and the final match in the career of Draznin, the lone Union senior.
