ONEONTA, NY -- The Oneonta State men's tennis team swept through the doubles and won five of the six singles spots en route to an 8-1 victory against visiting Union College this afternoon. The Red Dragons are now 4-1 in dual matches this fall while the Dutchmen fell to 0-2.
Oneonta opened today's match with a clean sweep of the three doubles matches, winning 8-3 at both the first and second spots in the lineup while taking the third spot by a 9-7 score. Freshmen John Crosby (Greenwich, NY) and John Taft (Queensbury, NY) held off their counterparts from Union, both freshmen as well, Sal Kurtz (Armonk, NY) and Scott Uffner (Livingston, NJ).
In singles action, sophomores Matt Steinhauser (Plainview, NY) and Scott Bell (Queensbury, NY), senior Shane Raymo (Plattsburgh, NY), and freshmen Jared Rosenberg (Melville, NY) and Jon Dorin (Lynbrook, NY) all won for Oneonta.
The lone winner for Union today was Kurtz, who won at fourth singles 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 against Oneonta freshman William Sacco (Canandaigua, NY).
