SPRINGFIELD, MA -- Junior Sara Callahan (Shelton, CT) helped lead Union to a 153-84 women's swimming & diving triumph over Hartwick at Springfield College Saturday. The Dutchwomen lost to Springfield, 131.50-110.50.
Callahan won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10.49.69, and also took first in the 500 free with a time of 5:21.71. Kirstin Burdett (Bristol, RI) took first in the 200 freestyle and touched at 2:02.66. Molly Freeman (Barrington, IL) was the winner of the one meter diving with a score of 247.70. Freeman was second in the three meter diving competition, scoring at 215.70.
Amy Nestlerode (Endicott, NY) won the 200 back with a time of 2:10.24, and Christa White (Washington, DC) was the victor in the 100 freestyle, clocking at 55.64.
Union placed second in the 400 medley relay. The Dutchwomen had a time of 4:14.16, with Nestlerode, Burdett, Mary Kate Baumann (Armonk, NY) and White. The 400 free relay's time of 3:49.27 was also second, featuring White, Ashley Braniecki (Cheektowaga, NY), Baumann and Maria Prendergast (Niskayuna, NY). Prendergast finished second in the 50 free at 25.80.
Union competes at RPI Friday, January 18 at 6 p.m.
