Callahan, Freeman break school marks in meet vs. Amherst

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Junior swimmer Sara Callahan (Shelton, CT) and senior diver Molly Freeman (Barrington, IL) both set school records in Union's home meet vs. Amherst Thursday night. The Dutchwomen lost, 142.5-97.5.

Callahan broke Union's 1000 freestyle record  with a time of 10:36.53. She also won the 1650 with a time of 17:34.96, which is the eighth best time to date in NCAA Division III.

Freeman, a four-time Liberty League Diver of the Week honoree, broke her own school record in winning the three meter dive with a score of 290.02. Freeman also was first in the one meter dive. She scored a total of 272.47 points, over 25 more points then the second place finisher.

Maria Prendergast (Niskayuna, NY) won the 50 free for Union, with a time of 25.64.

Union is right back in action Saturday, as the Dutchwomen compete at Middlebury. They close out the home season at the Alumni Gym Pool on February 2 against Hamilton.
