SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College women's ice hockey team returns to Messa Rink for a weekend series against Vermont, starting on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. Game two against the Catamounts will be played on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. Dutchwomen fans can follow the action through

After two games, senior forward
Suzy Pocock (Sterling Heights, MI) and sophomore forward
Marissa Gentile (Groton, MA) lead the team with two points each. Pocock has tallied a goal and an assist, while Gentile has posted two assists.
Pocock is Union's active career leader with 20 goals, 13 assists and 33 points. She ranks fourth all-time in school history for goals and sixth all-time for points.
Senior goaltender
Lundy Day (Calgary, AB) is also climbing Union's career records list. The Calgary native ranks second all-time with a .902 save percentage among Union goalies with 10 or more games played, while her 1,157 saves rank fourth. Day is on pace to break the career saves record, which is held by Amana Hanson (2003-07) with 1,896 stops.
Last time out, the Dutchwomen rallied with two third period goals to pull within one (3-2), but could not complete the comeback, losing to Boston University by said score on Friday, Oct. 3. The team then experienced a 6-0 setback at the hands of Northeastern, on Saturday, Oct. 4. Day combined for 76 saves.
Pocock tallied a goal and an assist, while Gentile had two assists. Junior defender
Jackie Koettertiz (Breckenridge, CO) tallied her third career goal and freshman defender
Dania Simmonds (Aurora, ON) posted her first career point, an assist. Both of Union's markers came on the power play.
Vermont, which was picked sixth in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, has 17 letterwinners back from a team that set program Division I records for most victories, in all games and in conference games, and finished seventh in the Hockey East standings.
UVM is led by tri-captains and forwards, Sarah Smiddy, Chelsea Furlani and Brittany Nelson. Smiddy and Furlani finished tied for sixth on the team last season with 10 points. Smiddy had six goals and four assists, while Furlani produced five goals and five assists Nelson finished atop of the points column with 13 points, including six goals and seven assists. Junior Kristen Olychuck returns between the pipes after finishing sixth in Hockey East with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.
