Union goes home-and-home with RPI

SCHENECTADY, NYThe Dutchwomen will participate in a home-and-home series against Rensselear this weekend. Union travels to RPI on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest and then welcomes the Engineers to Messa Rink on Sunday at 2 p.m. Entering the weekend, the Dutchwomen carry a 0-11-1 record and are 0-4-0 in the conference. RPI stands at 5-5-1 with a 2-1-1 conference mark.

Sixteen-year NHL veteran Theoren Fleury will be speaking to the team before and after Union's contest against RPI Sunday.
 
Fleury, who registered 1,084 career points and won a Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames, is traveling from Calgary, Alberta just to lend a helping hand for the Dutchwomen.
 
Union is led by senior goaltender Lundy Day, who has posted 453 saves with a .897 save percentage this season. Day was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week after combining for 106 saves during two games against Wayne State on Oct. 17-18. In Union's 1-1 tie during game one of that series, Day turned away a career-high 62 shots.
 
Junior defender Jackie Koetteritz leads the team with six points (3G-3A), while senior forward Suzy Pocock (3G-2A) and freshman forward Adelle Calahan (1G-4A) are tied for second with five points.
 
Sophomore forward Marissa Gentile is fourth with four points (2G-2G).
 
As a team the Dutchwomen have produced seven power play goals, which is equivalent to the number of power play goals it had for all of last season.

Union was led by a pair of freshmen over the past weekend in a pair of losses to No. 5 Dartmouth, 6-1, on Friday and to No. 3 Harvard, 5-0, on Saturday.
 
Calahan registered her first career goal in Union's contest against Dartmouth. She was set up by freshman forward Lauren Cromartie.
 
Day made 88 saves during the weekend, including 47 against the Big Green and 41 against the Crimson.

RPI is coming off a 1-1 tie and a 5-0 loss to Harvard and Dartmouth last weekend.
Freshman forward Alisa Harrison is the team's leading scorer with two goals and a team-best eight assists for 10 points.
 
Juniors Whitney Naslund (3G-6A) and Allysen Weidner (5G-4A), both forwards, each have nine points while classmate Allison Wright (3G-5A) has eight points.
 
In goal, sophomore Sonja van der Bliek has seen the majority of time in net, posting a 2.22 goals against average with a .900 save percentage, while senior Ashley Mayr has a 2.02 GAA and a .871 save percentage.
