CANTON, NY -- Charlie Davis and Harry King teamed up for a doubles win and each also were victorious in singles to lead #4 seed Hobart to a 6-3 win over #4 seed Union in the first day of the Liberty League Championships Saturday at the Sammis Tennis Courts at St. Lawrence University.
Union got a singles win from freshman Matt Goodnow (Boxborough, MA), his third singles win this week. Goodnow downed Matt Chin, 6-4 and 6-2, in the #4 singles match. Union also got a win at #6 singles from Sam Ringel (Winnetka, IL), who won 7-6 (2), and 6-2. The Statesmen won all three doubles matches.
The Dutchmen will take on RPI in the fifth place match.
