SCHENECTADY, NY -- Junior right-winger
Mario Valery-Trabucco scored twice and added an assist in the Union College men's ice hockey team's 6-3 win against ECAC Hockey foe Colgate on Saturday night at Messa Rink. The two-goal performance was the fourth of his career as he extends his scoring streak to a season-long five games. The Dutchmen improve to 12-9-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the conference, while The Red Raiders go to 6-11-5 and 1-6-3 in ECACH.

Corey Milan earned his 12th victory of the season and 18th of his career by turning away 24 shots. He made seven saves in the first, nine in the second and eight in the third. Milan was playing in this 22nd game of the season and entered with a 2.65 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.
Union unloaded 38 shots, eclipsing the 30 shot plateau for the 10th time this season. They went 2-for-6 on the power play, while killing 4-of-5. Colgate finished with 27 shots.
Cain netted the game-winner at the 8:44 mark of the third period after Simpson used his speed to get behind the defense. After taking the puck wide and behind the net, he found Cain crashing to the net for a one-timer. The goal was Cain's career-high third of the season and the first since scoring the game-winner against Harvard (3-1) on Nov. 8.
Valery-Trabucco snipped Union's fifth goal while on the power play at 13:22 and Simpson added an empty netter at 19:14.
The scoring started when Boileau put Union up 1-0 only 2:03 into the game with his third power play goal of the season. After Milnamow received a pass at the point from Zajac, he threw the puck towards the goal where Boileau tipped it past junior goaltender Charles Long.
The Red Raiders responded near the end of the first (15:17) when junior center David McIntyre scored off a rebound on a shot from senior David Sloane. The second assist went to senior left-winger Peter Bogdanich.
Then with 3:45 remaining in the first and only 58 seconds after Colgate tied it up, Cook sent a backhander into a gapping net. Zajac won the puck high in the zone and fed Valery-Trabucco in the slot for a one-timer. The rebound kicked to the right where Cook sent home his 30th career goal.
Valery-Trabucco made it 3-1 early in the second at 3:56 with a blistering slap shot at the top of the left circle. Presizniuk and Walters each had helpers on the goal, which came just as a Colgate penalty expired.
Milan turned away nine shots in the second period, but junior right-winger Jason Williams broke through at 17:06 on the power play. McIntyre setup a tick-tack play between sophomore center Francois Brisebo and Williams.
McIntyre gained the momentum for his team by tying up the score (3-3) 5:02 into the third, but the Dutchmen responded only 2:18 later with Cain's goal.
Long finished with 32 saves as his record moves to 5-7-4.
Union faces five straight road games, beginning with a trip to the North Country on Friday, Jan. 23 at Clarkson at 7 p.m. They face St. Lawrence on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m.
