Adam Presizniuk had a goal and two assists and junior center
Jason Walters tallied two goals in Union's 4-3 overtime loss at Clarkson on Friday. The game-winner was scored by senior Shea Guthrie at 1:32 of the extra frame. Union goes to 12-10-1 overall and 5-6-0 in conference play, while Clarkson improves to 6-13-4, and 4-6-1 ECAC Hockey.
Presizniuk enjoyed his fifth multi-point game of the season and his third in four contests. He extended his scoring streak to a season-long six games and continues to increase his team-leading production with 11 goals, 16 assists and a career-high 27 points. He now has 52 career points
Walter's performance marked the second time this season he has registered two goals and the fourth time he has had at least two points. Junior right-winger
Mario Valery-Trabucco also increased his scoring streak to six games with two assist. During that span, he has produced nine points, increasing his season totals to seven goals, 12 assists and 19 points.
Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender
Corey Milan registered 19 saves and is now 12-10-1 for the season and 18-18-7 for his career.
The Dutchmen outshot the Golden Knights 30-23, marking the 11th time this season they have accomplished the feat.
After falling behind 3-1, the Dutchmen fought back and Presizniuk registered the tying goal 4:01 into the third period at the end of a power play. The play was set up by senior left-winger
Matt Cook and Valery-Trabucco.
In the first, Clarkson jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a delayed penalty when sophomore defenseman Bryan Rufenach, a Detroit Red Wings' prospect, slide a low wrist shot past the right pad of Milan 4:39 into the game.
The Golden Knights held a 4-1 shot advantage early, but Union responded with nine unanswered attempts and found the back of the net at 7:46 on the power play. Clarkson freshman netminder Richie LaVeau had a case of butterfingers, allowing the puck to carom off his glove and behind the net. Presizniuk gained possession and fed to Valery-Trabucco, who appeared to miss a cutting Walters, but found the junior just in time for a one-timer. The goal was Union's sixth power-play goal in five outings.
The period seemed to be heading to a 1-1 conclusion, but the home offensive scored twice during the final minute. First, sophomore forward Brandon DeFazio scored on the power play with 42 seconds remaining and Rufenach made it 3-1 with 0.8 ticks on the board.
Walters pulled Union to within one with his second tally of the game. Presizniuk forced a turnover behind Clarkson's net and found Walters for a one-timer at 11:46. It marked the seventh time in his career that he registered two goals in a game.
Union completes the second half of its trip to the North Country with a 7 p.m. contest at St. Lawrence on Saturday, Jan. 24.
