AMHERST, MA -- Kaleigh Ahern had a solid meet along with many of her teammates, but the Union women's swimming & diving team lost at Amherst Sunday, 149-92. Ahern won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.69 and also joined Kirstin Burdett, Andrea Marois and Priscilla Wright for a time of 1:53.82 for a victory in the 200 medley relay.
The Union men's team lost at Amherst, 144-92.
Wright touched at 25.39 to win the 50 free for the Dutchwomen. Mary Kate Baumann was second in the 200 free at 2:01.24, and #Lia D'Ambrosio was second in the one meter dive at 182.70. Wright finished second in the 100 free at 55.27, and Burdett took second in the 100 back at 1:04.19. In the three meter dive, Meredith Nearpass scored a total of 197.03 for second place.
Brian Scarlett led the Union showing on the men's side. He won the 200 free with a time of 1:47.50, and had the first leg of the winning time of 1:39.16 in the 200 medley relay. Joining Scarlett was Alex Boyd, Kevin Jung and Todd Herman in the victorious relay. Steve Schapp took second in the 1650 free at 16:47.56, and was also second in the 500 free at 4:57.93. Other second place finishers included Todd Herman in the 50 free (22.10), Ian Drillinger in the three meter dive (206.47) and one meter dive (227.55), Lucas Tiziani in the 100 fly (53.82) and Herman in the 100 free (49.97). The 800 free relay event featured a second place finish with Schapp, Bill Breitweiser, Tiziani and Chris Heske at 7:20.15.
The Union teams are at Hamilton Saturday.
